The administration of the island has been transferred from the central government in Madrid to the authorities of the government of the Balearic Islands. Recently Google has updated parts of the satellite imagery of Mallorca available on Google Maps and Google Earth. Previous imagery had inferior resolution and certain areas, notably Son Roca and the Poligono Can Valero had partially been covered by clouds and the new motorway to Manacor with its roundabouts in the outskirts of Palma was still incomplete... |

This morning, heavy rainfall coming in from south-western directions hit the island of Mallorca, less than two weeks after the devastating tornado that swept over Palma's Poligono Can Valero. The rainfall this morning was accompanied by a few tornados on the southern coast which luckily did not make it to the actual island. |

At 17:30 hours today, an incredible thunderstorm has hit Mallorca. Just coming back from work, I saw the sky over the sea towards the south was simply black like at night. A few minutes later the desaster started. |
