Bahia Palma 25000 Pixel

Tuesday, 05 February 2008
This is probably the widest photo ever taken of the Bahia de Palma. It is 25000 pixels in width and covers most of the Bahia, starting in the west with Cala Mayor and only ending in the east at S'Arenal. Image quality isn't perfect, but the shear width of the view will compensate you for that. Enjoy the photo.

It has taken me hours and hours to get there, but after all, a super wide angle partial panorama of Palma de Mallorca by night, with a resolution of 683 megapixel is ready for you to enjoy. You can easily identify individual buildings at this resolution. Here is the photo ...

This afternoon, I finished the extensive work on a project I had planned on for a long time: A gigapixel photo of Palma's cathedral LA SEU. It is completed now, and the result is a 1.11 gigapixel photo. You can see details, which I could not see with the bare eye from about one hundred metres I stood away from the cathedral. Here is the photo...

After quite a few days of testing to get it compatible with most browsers, I have the pleasure to announce a new photo gallery of Mallorca on this site. The gallery is based on Google Maps with custom markers of all locations of the photos. You can comfortably choose the photo you like to see from that map..

Saturday, 29 December 2007
Last week the "Consell" published a list of days that will be public holidays in 2008. There will, however, be some exceptions to that, especially in touristic places. Furthermore, stores have permission to keep their doors open on eight special days in 2008. Read on for the full list..

2007 has been the year, when this site made a huge step in its evolution towards a real platform of information about Mallorca. I like to take this opportunity and wish all my readers a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR. Thank you for your visits and your support.

Palma to get a tram?
User Rating: / 1
Monday, 17 December 2007
The idea is not new, and actually Palma used to have one before. You will easily guess that this is about the tram, the first of which was built in Palma back in September 1891 when a first line linked "Plaza d'en Coll" and "Porto Pi". In recent years, politicians have raised the idea of a new tram repeatedly, though with limited success so far...

Govern & Languages

Last week, the performance of pupils on the island have been controversially discussed in local and national newspapers. With a local government that likes to boast with words like "trilingual", I thought to give it a try on the BOIB site of the "Govern de les Illes Balears" which you can find here. This site is what they refer to the "official gazette" where announcements and regulations are published...

New speed cameras
User Rating: / 2
Sunday, 16 December 2007
Currently the local government is proceeding with the installation of a range of speed cameras on the roads of Mallorca. It seems to be certain that there will be at least one camera on the motorway from Inca to Palma, approximately where the "Festival Park" is located. I will check on all those new installations and provide you with a Google Map with the exact locations as soon as possible.
