Today you have the chance to visit the "Wells at Campanet", aka "Fonts Ufanes" from 10 to 17 hours. The wells can only be seen a few times a year when heavy rainfall came down in the days/weeks before. It is a unique experience and a nice excusion for a Sunday. The fiesta in Porreres on Sunday, October 28th, was a nice even on a beautiful day. I honestly did not expect a lot from it when I decided to drive all the way from Palma to Porreres. However, arriving at about 12:30 the parking spaces left were not exactly close to the spot, but a few minutes walk wasn't so bad either...

Metro de Palma de Mallorca

Back on April 25th, 2007, Palma de Mallorca's ambitious project of an own metro had been completed after almost two and a half years of planning and construction. Today, October 24th, 2007, it is time for a first review of the new means of transport that links the city centre of Palma with the University in the suburbs.

Everyone living on the island of Mallorca will have noticed that there are many things that simply do not work, no matter how much you insist or keep going after them. A very reputable exception, at least from a consumers point of view is EMAYA (Empresa Municipal de Agua y Alcantarillado). The folks working at the company do the "dirtiest" job on the island, but they might be the best of all...

TUI Marathon winner

Marc Jörgens, winner of the TUI Marathon 2007Marc Jörgens is the winner of the TUI Marathon 2007 again. He wins in record time of 2:31:23h, improving his 2006 result significantly. Winner of the half-marathon distance is Jaume Aragones Perales at 1:10:54h, also a new course record. With the women, last year's winner Birgit Schoenherr-Hoelscher also wins the race again and improved last year's time by various minutes to 2:54:40h. The next TUI Marathon in Palma de Mallorca is likely to be held on October 19th, 2008. See full article for more photos...

On Sunday, October 21st, thousands of athletes will participate in this year's largest marathon on the island. The run will start at 9 a.m. in the morning and there will also be a half-marathon and a 10km fun run. The route's start and finish is located on the Paseo Maritimo at the Parque La Feixina, close to the Passeig Mallorca and the Museum Es Baluard...

Heavy rainfall on Mallorca

This morning, heavy rainfall coming in from south-western directions hit the island of Mallorca, less than two weeks after the devastating tornado that swept over Palma's Poligono Can Valero. The rainfall this morning was accompanied by a few tornados on the southern coast which luckily did not make it to the actual island.

Google Maps for the Panoramas

From today you cannot only access the panoramas from the usual item on the content bar on the left hand side, but you can have a Google Maps overview of the actual places. This will make it a lot easier for you to identify locations and see what they are like when seen from Space.

Heavy thunderstorm!!!

Foto of the tornado that swept over Can Valero (Palma)At 17:30 hours today, an incredible thunderstorm has hit Mallorca. Just coming back from work, I saw the sky over the sea towards the south was simply black like at night. A few minutes later the desaster started.

Paying Bills & Inconvenience

For all those who live in Mallorca, there are some things, which tourists never have to care about. One of the most annoying things is paying bills. It is not only annoying because you have to pay for them, but it is particulary annoying because of the way paying bills is being handled on the island. Despite having twice as many banks per 1000 inhabitants compared to e.g. Germany, simple payments for bills are actually a nightmare rather than a normal and standardized act in the bank...
